"Nabar", a relatively unknown Punjabi film has won this year's prestigious National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi.
In the past 5-6 years, only two Punjabi films have managed to get a national award, the other being "Anhe Gohre Da Daan", which won 3 national awards, Best Feature Film in Punjabi, Best Cinematography and Best Director, the later two awards being a first for any Punjabi film. Ironically, Anhe Gohre Da Daan was not even nominated for any award at the recently concluded PTC Film Awards, touted to be the biggest film event in Punjabi Cinema.
Nabar may unfortunately see the same fate that Anhe Gohre Da Daan saw last year, when it could not find any distributors for a theatrical release, says a close associate of Manoj Punj, the acclaimed director who has directed the highest number of national award winning films in Punjabi Cinema. If Manoj Punj was alive today, he would have made many more national award winning films, she concludes.
It is a bit apologetic but we at CinePunjab.com didn't hear about this film, which made us do a little research on the film and here is some information we got for our readers -
