Dharti is Record Breaking in Punjab!
Dharti had an excellent 1st weekend in Punjab. The early estimates suggest a weekend of 1.67 Crores which is a record breaking. The breakup is as follows: Friday-54 lacs, Saturday-48 lacs, Sunday-65 lacs. The distributor share comes out to be 1.1 Crores.
It must be noted that the last record for the opening weekend was also set up by the same team of director-actor Navaniat Singh & Jimmy Sheirgill's Mel Karade Rabba (2010). However, Dharti (2011) has taken a 40% bigger opening than Mel Karade Rabba (2010) in Punjab.
Monday has had a drop of 35-40% which is good, taking into account the serious theme of the film.
The weekend business of Dharti (2011) in Punjab is same as the entire theatrical run of year's first hit The Lion of Punjab (2011).
